Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

In carpal tunnel surgery, Dr. Kerem Bıkmaz utilizes his patented technique called #miniopenapproach. The mini open approach is a new surgical method developed considering the issues encountered in traditional surgical practices.

Similar to endoscopic surgery, a small incision is made to create a tunnel between the median nerve and the carpal ligament. Simultaneously, a second tunnel is opened between the carpal ligament and the subcutaneous tissue to completely expose the ligament. The ligament is then cut using a special "blade light" laser blade.

🌟 With our patented surgical method, you can return to your normal life within one week without the need for anesthesia or hospitalization.

One of the significant advantages of the mini open approach over endoscopic approaches is that it does not require the use of endoscopic tools, making it feasible to perform outside a hospital setting.

The operation time for carpal tunnel syndrome is significantly decreased

Açık cerrahi sonrası görülebilen ve hastayı bazen ileri derecede rahatsız edebilecek skar dokusu oluşumu, operasyon sahasında ağrı, pilar sendromu (Açık karpal tünel ameliyatları sonrası avuç içinde kalıcı hale gelen şiddetli, ağrı, yanma, kızarıklık.) gibi problemler mini açık yaklaşım ile son derece azaltmıştır.

The wound healing process is shortened due to the smaller incision made and minimal damage to the underlying tissues.

Issues like the need for arm suspension and immobilization for two weeks after open surgery have been eliminated.

Patients who undergo the mini open approach can start using their hands for light tasks as early as the day after the surgery, without the need for hand suspension

There is no significant difference in surgical outcomes between the mini open approach and open surgery

  • No requirement for hospitalization, as the procedure can be performed outside of a hospital setting.
  • Use of local anesthesia, providing localized numbing.
  • Maximum preservation of tissue during the procedure.
  • Technically simple to perform
  • Significant reduction in surgical time (10-15 minutes).
  • No need for endoscope utilization.
  • Lower cost for the patient.
  • Shortened post-operative recovery time.
  • Minimization of redness, sensitivity, and pain around the surgical site after the operation.
  • Quick restoration of hand function and return to work.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Symptoms

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome typically develop gradually. An important indication of carpal tunnel syndrome is when numbness and tingling do not affect the little finger. Intermittent sensations of electric shock accompanying numbness in the first three fingers may also be present

Early symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include numbness, tingling, and loss of sensation in the first three fingers of the hand. It is important to seek treatment without delay after the initial onset of these symptoms. Don't wait for the pain to become excessively severe or unbearable before starting treatment.

According to data from the United States, approximately 260,000 cases of carpal tunnel syndrome are surgically treated each year.

If your answer to these questions is yes, you may have a condition called carpal tunnel syndrome, which is a nerve compression disorder. Half of the cases are work-related, and among all occupational diseases and injuries, it is the condition that causes the most loss of workforce.
